Dyson was the first company to manufacture a vacuum cleaner that uses cyclonic separation. The creator, James Dyson, created the dual cyclone system after he found that he had to keep replacing the dust bags in his vacuum cleaner even when they were not full.
The defining feature of a Dyson is the visible and distinctive Cyclone.
Dyson vacuum cleaners come in bold colours, in order to make them stand out in shops. The DC05 is dark blue and light green— neutral colours intended to be attractive to either gender.
Dysons are shaped very differently from other vacuum cleaners. The DC05 has an unusual shape which "hugs" or "sits on" the stairs. The DC11 is futuristic and modern-looking, with a Cyclone on either side and tubing wrapped around the main body.
As well as improving the suction of the Cyclone, Dyson has introduced many ergonomic features. The latest vacuum cleaner now has a ball to replace the wheels, which makes it easier to move and relieves stress on the spine and exercises the biceps and triceps.
